April Fools' Day 2015: The Brands That Had You Fooled.

Written by Kayla Brehm | Apr 1, 2015 12:00:25 PM

Happy April Fools’ Day! Do you have any fun stories yet? No? Well just wait. April 1st is one of our favorites days of the year. Not because of the practical jokes (we like those too), but because it’s the one day of the year that a lot of our favorite brands put their creative thinking caps on and really “wow” us. From complete website transformations to promotional videos, we never know what to expect. And we like it that way.

This year we’ll be updating this post throughout the day as we stumble across new campaigns for April Fools 2015. Have a favorite that we haven't mentioned? Send us a note @tweetsfromhelp!

1. Google Maps, Pacman

If you’ve tried to use Google Maps today, you may have noticed that your street view is looking startlingly similar to a Pacman game. A nod to last year, when they released over a hundred Pokemon into the wild, Google Maps has set your hometown as the scene for the ultimate showdown.

2. Samsung, Galaxy BLADE

Made for the modern-day chef, Samsung has announced a new smart knife to tackle all of your cooking woes. The product website details, “building on the expertise it has already displayed with its Chef Collection series, Samsung is taking its commitment to culinary expertise and cutting-edge technology even further – literally.” Sadly, chefs won't be seeing the ergonomic ceramic, diamond-encrusted knife in their kitchens anytime soon.

3. Honda, HR-V-SLF

Honda set itself up for a challenge this year to one up last year’s April Fools video, but proved quite successful. Quietly releasing a promotion for the world’s first selfie-car, the auto juggernaut targets Millennials with the HR-V-SLF's 10 cameras and hands-free technology. Intrigued? Press play.

4. Audi, Autonomous Office Chair

An office chair that knows your schedule better than you do? Sign me up. Our team is only slightly upset that we can't buy this.

5. DigitalOcean, Atlantis

Cloud hosting company Digital Ocean, announced this morning that they are opening Atlantis, their first underwater data center. From substantial cost savings, to some spectacular views, it's clear this is a smart path for the startup. Interested? Break out your scuba gear- they're hiring!

6. West Elm, Thanks For Your Order!

Many Help.com teammates woke up to a mysterious email from West Elm this morning, thanking them for their recent order. Momentary panic aside, well done, West Elm. You had us fooled.

7. Uber, UberLions

Uber has continuously seen great success with Uberkittens, so its only natural that they're expanding the campaign to another type of cat. Even better, they will donate $1 toward National Geographic's Bit Cat Initiative for every person who applies the promo code LIONCUBS. What's stopping you?

8. Hulu, HuluPets

It's no secret that we're crazy about animals at Help.com, so when we stumbled across Hulu's recent addition, we couldn't help but share. "The Real Pugs of Portland"? We'd watch that.
